I am a lifelong fly fisher, instructor and journalist. I love introducing new people to our sport and often sparking an interest that will stay with them for life. Every year I meet dozens of new fishers and make new friends.
I am a Master instructor in both trout and salmon fly fishing disciplines, accredited by the Association of Advanced Professional game Angling Instructors (AAPGAI). I also hold the AAPGAI Advanced Fly Dressing qualification.

A journalist by background, I have written extensively on fishing and outdoor pursuits for the UK national press and a range of magazines, including numerous articles for the Financial Times Weekend magazine.
I enjoy fishing remote and exotic destinations around the world, particularly in Iceland, Argentina, Canada, the US, and the Bahamas. As well as my home waters in the south east of England, I regularly fish the rivers of Mid Wales, notably the Usk and Wye.
I am a former partner in Halstead and Bolton, fly fishing travel specialists, and have led groups of anglers to exciting global destinations. Every year, I also run residential salmon and trout courses in Scotland and England with fellow Master instructors.
You might spot me giving casting demonstrations at shows, including the British Fly Fair International and the Irish International Fly Fair, and I am proud to have been invited to join the Guideline Power Team. In addition, I am a senior assessor for the AAPGAI instructor qualifications, I have mentored new instructors and am currently secretary of the Association of Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructors.
